Proposal 8:
Bridging the gap between the NX server and the hosted environment
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently the applications being hosted in an NX session are not
aware of that condition. Usually this does not matter in the least,
but there are several occasions when such information would be
invaluable.

One example is in the KDE log out dialog. If the KDE session was
aware that it was being run in an NX environment (or any environment
which supports session suspension) a "Suspend Session" button should
be provided in the log out dialog that does just that.

This project would entail creating an extensible mechanism for the
FreeNX server to signal to the environment it is hosting that NX
capabilities are available. The information that needs to be
communicated includes the availability of NX and whether or not
session suspension is supported, though it should not by design be
limited to being able to only support those two bits of information.

To complete this bounty, at least two separate uses of this
information in the KDE desktop must be implemented, one of which will
be a Suspend Session button in the KDE log out dialog that appears
only when NX suspend capabilities are available with the second usage
up to the imagination and creativity of the developer.
