I can't say if it really helps. It doesn't feel different, no matter which
compress ratio I choose. The quality of images seems to be different,
though.

I suppose it makes no difference because I have enough bandwidth on both
lines. This is an inner-Germany connection, from a 5 mbit adsl client to a
2 mbit sdsl vpn. The 2 mbit line is used lightly and also traffic-shaped
(iproute2).
