older bug that's hitting us hard

Hi everyone - just joined this list and hoping we can find some solution to
an issue.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1304738

What we are seeing most often is when you switch virtual desktops, I think
there's a stat of the NFS mounts, and the task bar becomes locked up for
about 10 seconds to 2 minutes or so. This is on centos 7.3... Any thoughts
about how we could deal with this outside of moving everyone to gnome? This
is hitting a lot of people, we have over 1000 users, and a large render
farm..

I have 2 people testing on 7.4 that it seems better but we would be a few
months away from being able to roll out to everyone.

Some info below, please let me know if you need any further info. Thanks
for any insights/suggestions.
