Forgot to explicitly mention:

Just updating the krunner library is not enough, as the ABI breakage and thus 
the crash trigger here has been propagating into the software linking against 
the krunner library, at least that software setting some condition which 
triggered the trap.

So with the patch applied, this also needs a rebuild (and thus a new package 
version) of that software which builds and links against the krunner library.

Right now, in the software released from KDE only "akonadi-search" with its 
krunner plugin is known to need that rebuild and updated package.
