So I've created the applet for KDE Telepathy 0.9 + Plasma 5 combo.
It uses only telepathy-qt5 (and Qt5 obviously) and have no other dependency
on any other KDE Telepathy module.

It lives at kde:scratch/mklapetek/ktp-legacy-presence-applet (given it's
intended
short-liveness I'm not going to request a proper repo for this) and released
tarballs are at
http://download.kde.org/stable/kde-telepathy/legacy/src/ktp-legacy-presence-applet-1.0.tar.xz.mirrorlist

The translations are taken from KDE Telepathy catalogs but as the
ktp-desktop-applets
repo was missing Messages.sh till recently, not everything is translated
yet.

I'll do another tarball release closer to KDE Applications 15.04 release
which
will include updated translations and couple bugfixes.

It has a slight issue compared to Plasma4 though - there clicking the applet
would open the contact list, but now in Plasma5, all applets in systray are
forced to show a popup, so basically clicking the applet in systray now does
show an empty popup (well there's the same icon and clicking that icon opens
the contact list). There are two alternatives to this - middle mouse button
click
also opens the contact list (will be in next release) or the applet can be
put
on panel rather than to systray, then it works as intended.

I'll also put this into a blogpost so it can be linked and stuff.

I don't intend to maintain/release this very long, it should serve only as
a transitional crutch. I will however do couple more tarballs with updated
translations.
