How to compile Digikam?

Thanks Gilles,
I have compiled digikam and I can proceed with my faulty DB.
However, it apparently went through a schema upgrade and this changed
the error. I no longer segfault; instead, digikam aborts with:
qt.core.qobject.connect: QObject::connect: No such slot
Digikam::SurveyWindow::slotDeleteFinalItem() in
/builddir/build/BUILD/digikam-9.1.0-build/digikam-9.1.0/core/utilities/survey/surveywindow_setup.cpp:68
qt.core.qobject.connect: QObject::connect: (receiver name: 'Survey')
kf.xmlgui: Unhandled container to remove : Digikam::DigikamApp
Same error with the distro-package version.
To make sure, I checked against another DB (which also gets a schema
upgrade) and this opens like a charm.
Which track should I follow to guess how I land in
SurveyWindow::setupActions() ? A "Find in all files" did not find
slotDeleteFinalItem but it may be an implictly generated name. However,
there is a similar slot in LightTableWindow; but it is definitively not
a SurveyWindow::… and I find no declaration for it.
Since the faulty database was created many releases before the Survey
tool was added, there is no reason for it to try and open in the Survey
tool.
I have narrowed down the problem to execution of
AlbumManager::instance()->startScan(). So, what's next?
Patrick
