Unable to tell Digikam my pictures location now I've moved them to a new disk

You're probably using digiKam with a Snap package. Snap uses a sandbox, and 
you only have access to your home directory. Snap is completely useless for 
digiKam.
If your distribution doesn't provide a native digiKam package, use our 
AppImage, built with all the features. Simply download the AppImage and make 
it executable and run it.
