Unable to tell Digikam my pictures location now I've moved them to a new disk

Hi
Having been a happy user of Digikam on Linux Mint for several years, I'm
now having trouble after I've moved my pictures to a new hard drive as I
need the extra space for the growing collection. Digikam seems unable to
see my pictures directory. (My home directory and all other documents
remain on the original disk, it's only 'Pictures' that I've moved.)
Digikam is Version 8.7.0
Pictures are now stored on a new NVMe drive in:
/mnt/624bff2d-a499-40ff-985d-2ba2d8e9642a/Pictures [that long string is
the UUID of the disk, which is also how it's shown in the directory browser]
This disk is mounted on system startup so it's available straight away.
I followed the advice to delete this file:
/.var/app/org.kde.digikam/config/digikamrc
I then get the same message each time from Digikam's first run wizard,
asking me to specify where the pictures are stored. Unfortunately, it's
impossible to tell Digikam where the Pictures directory now is [see
above] - I can't browse to it in the Digikam window, nor can I paste in
the location, even though it says I can choose any folder
'Find directory' shows the system folder but NOT mnt, even though that's
clearly there in the Linux Mint computer directory - for the Digikam
list, there's just media, then proc, missing out both the mnt and opt
directories
'The folder to use as the root album path does not exist' (it does).
What am I doing wrong?
