Change from old colors label (full box) to new labels (underline only)

It is a shame that the original request was not implemented, of an
option on the intensity of the label colour.
I too liked the original solution, far better that the new one, which I
find makes it harder for me to pick and sort with. I would have prefer
it if the intensity had been an option, as originally requested.
However we are picking in the fringes here, and there are probably far
more important things to do.
