>>> As an amatuer photographer, I was looking for an opensource image management software to move away from Adobe Bridge, and I am happy that I came across DigiKam. I did not use its editing features yet, so my comments, questions and wishes are restricted to the photo management section in Windows 11 24H2 Pro:

>>> 1. In my laptop display, I find the left and right panels are too wide, and customization of the thumbnails in the middle is difficult.
L/R panel : it's translations issue. Switching in native English is safe.
icon-view icon sizes : CTRL+/- work well...
>>>
>>> 2. In terms of font size, the default of the main menu on top seems too small, and on left and right panel too big. On a 15” laptop display, that results in poor visibility of the menu and word truncation in extreme left panel. I could not set the three font choices right. Any suggestion will be helpful.
You can customize font size in the DK/Setup pages.
Anyway, from the desktop settings, digiKam will follow the main
configuration about fonts used everywhere.

>>> 3. I am big fan of multiple overlapping tags per photo. Is there any way to get seasons tag automatically from exif date? Of course the software needs an input to know which hemisphere the user in.
It's not yet implemented. We have report on this topic and more in bugzilla.
>>>
>>> 4. Will it be possible to implement similar autotagging of location if exif contain location data? In addition, a user/map defined identification of the location (xxx park, yyy city) can bring additional location tags that might be useful to average user who wants to go beyond lat/long.
It's reverse geocoding :

>>> 5. Is there any way to tag folders without opening, selecting all pictures inside and then tagging?
No, it's not yet implemented.
