Thank you for your reply, Gilles.
But then why are these fields already present in the database (particularly the “orientation” field)?
In my opinion, the concept of photo orientation is not that “technical”, and is now handled by the vast majority of smartphones.
It would not seem out of place to offer this feature within digiKam itself: do you think I could submit a request for this change on the development platform?

Less useful for Panoramax, but very useful in my opinion for many photographers, geographical accuracy management would be a big plus in my view: in many photo libraries, we know the approximate location of a photo, but not down to the metre (sometimes the municipality, sometimes the county, sometimes even just the country). Also, in order for these photos to be geolocated globally, photographers geolocate a point on the corresponding geographical unit. Except that this point is not ‘real’, and adding a notion of precision would allow a radius of uncertainty to be added around the point.
This is what the iNaturalist platform does with naturalist observations, for example. Here is an example of my observations (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/236873647) where the point has a radius of uncertainty of 2 km, because I did not know exactly where the photo was taken.
If you do not find this irrelevant, I would suggest that this be taken care of on the development platform.
