Digikam 8.8 Crashing While scanning for new images

I recently changed my laptop from an HP Spectre to a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro 
with Nvidia Graphics drivers and the Nvidia RTX5060 hardware. Even 
before loading the Nvidia drivers, I cannot get Digikam 8.8 (Fedora  , 
flat-pak or app-image) to run for more than about 45 sec before it 
freezes requiring a hard reboot. Even before installing the Nvidia 
drivers, I was experiencing the same behavior. I checked GIMP and 
DarkTable and they  run without issue. I'm running Fedora 43 with all 
current updates.

Would appreciate some guidance if anyone has any advice.
