very slow scan for new items

Hello,

I'm using digikam 8.4.0 on Manjaro Linux.

For a couple of weeks now scanning for new items has gone so slow it's 
hardly usable. After 30 hours it's at 11%.
As far as I'm aware, the problem started after I had to copy a few 
folders from sd card for a second time because the first time some 
images got corrupted, though I suspect that was just coincidence.
I'm not aware I updated or installed anything before the problem started.

Some console output almost looks like it's scanning for duplicates as 
well to me, though could be wrong:

Any tips how to debug that?
Tried to run a gdb debug, not sure if it's showing much but could post.
