how to add copyright in RAW

Fully agree not to write into Raw files, but for example when I apply
geotag in a raw file , only XMP is updated and no new version of the RAW
s created.
Was hopping to do the same for metadata ?
and during import , such operation would conduct to automaticaly create
an XMP with such information ?
