'Fuzzy' previews

DK 8.3 appimage on opensuse leap 15.5. 

The preview are "fuzzy" so I can't see if the are in focus or almsot in
focus, aka soft.

I've been using DK sine the 5.x serie but never used the previews. Up to
now I was using geeqie for my culling + selection and DK for keywording,
rating, moving images around. Up to now, I've only used the tumbnails.

Now I got a new camera that is not yet supported by geeqie (om1-mkII)
and only get a black squares.

Now I need the check the focus, the sharpness... in DK. I have tried all
the settings:

- jpeg preview
- half raw
- full raw

All the images were 'fuzzy', so I tried some older images (canon 7dmkii).

How can I get a better preview?
