I only change this option for perfoming a test on 1 or2 files to
investigate the problem with DNG on DXO and set it back once test is
done. I hope that changing tis option without making any change on the
file is not creating another XMP (file.ext.XMP) , do you confirm ?
can you clarifiy what you mean by
"I tend to use sidecars only for "real" RAW files if the option for
compatible file name sidecars is enabled"
is there another way for DNG files ?
