sidecar filename

Hi all

today I have configured DK 8.3 with the option "sidecar filename are 
compatible with commercial programs"
This is working fine with DXO for the raw files, but there is a problem 
with DNG files, that would require to unset this option.

Just wondering the impact of unsetting this option ? I did it and 
restarted DK , but the finding of new elements is taking much more time 
than before ? What is behind this change ? (today I have set the option 
again)
