You are probably using the digiKam-Snap package on this Ubuntu platform. Snap
uses a sandbox and therefore you cannot access files outside your home
directory. Therefore digiKam is useless as a Snap package that is provided by
your distribution.
Use our AppImage that we provide, just make it executable and start it.
