Failed to initialize the database error

Hello,

I've been struggling to set up digiKam and thought I would try here to
see if anyone could offer any advice. I am trying to set up and
connect a MySQL Server to digiKam but running into issues.  I tried
the same thing on both my Mac and Windows and ran into the same issue.

I get a "Failed to initialize the database" error when I try to set it
up. I have created four databases, digikam_core, digikam_thumbs,
digikam_face, and digikam_similarity. My database settings are in the
attached file.

It doesn't seem to be a simple connection error because when I check
the connection it works, and after I attempt this, some database
tables are created. In digikam_core, I see:
albumroots
albums
downloadhistory
imagecomments
imagecopyright
imagehistory
imageinformation
imagemetadata
imagepositions
imageproperties
imagerelations
images
imagetagproperties
imagetags
searches
settings
tagproperties
tags
tagstree
videometadata
 (see other attachment)

I've run the same process twice on my Mac and got to the same point,
and now I'm running into it again on Windows. Does anyone have any
suggestions?
