Choose date to use for "group selected by time"

Hello

I have been using "group selected by time" to group CR2 with its JPG 
(because I change the jpg name to indicate the color space, e.g. 
*_srgb,jpg or *_argb.jpg, etc.).  This works well except in one case:  
If I change metadata (e.g. rating) the date/time no longer matches and 
the grouping fails.  I suspect this is because the file dates are used 
for grouping, instead of Exif "date/time original", for example.

Is is possible to specify which date to use for grouping?

If not, may I recommend this as a feature?
