Setting reference album for duplicate finding

Hello,

Is there a way to specify the reference album for comparing duplicate
images? 

I have a primary album tree that is my master file. 

I have a second album tree that I feed all new images to for sorting.  

I would like to compare the primary and secondary trees, and then
remove images from the secondary tree if they are duplicates of what is
already in the primary album tree. 

When I select the albums using the find duplicates function under
similarity or the tool, it seems to randomly select the "reference
image/album", and is usually not the one I desire.
