[digiKam 7.9.0] Import from scanner not available

Hi,
In digiKam 7.9.0 there is no "Import from scanner" in the import list.
I searched in many places but can't find any info about libraries needed 
or if support was dropped in early versions.
As the manual for 8.2 still explain how to use "Import from scanner" I'm 
figuring out that it should be available at some point.
Does anyone have an advice or can point me to ressources about this ?
