Hello,
Thank you for your reply
I am using Digikam 8.0 under Windows 10
I have two albums
- @awaiting family with 2 subfolders (200 Photos)
-Outstanding (empty)
-News which contains 5 subfolders and 200 photos
- Family which contains 90ooo photos divided into folders by year

I had created @en waiting family to put the new photos hoping that the following treatment would be faster
"DiGIKAm Maintenance" with options
- Albums: on 5 albums of the collection containing 200 images
- Work on all cores (if possible)
- Synchronize metadata and database: From image metadata to database
but in fact it hasn't changed anything, I only select the @pending family folder with its 200 photos and the processing is endless.
is there a way to process the 2000000 photos faster?
Cordially

Longer than 48 hours for reading the metadata of only 200 images - hard to believe.
A test here with SQLite database (on HDD not SSD) and 500 images measured 15 seconds.
On which platform are you using digiKam, what type of database are you using, where is the collection with the 200 images located, on a network drive?
