[digiKam-users] Digikam is not finding new items anymore

Thank you, sknahT, for the suggestion -- that was actually the first thing I thought of and unfortunately it didn't work.  HOWEVER, when I squinted, in 7.4.0 there's a small, easy-to-miss-and-without-tooltip icon next to the "Delete" button in the Root directory settings Removable Drives section...and lo and behold...that was the magic button.  When I clicked, it let me redirect the "images" folder to a new path.  All my folder info (including the image thumbnails) was retained, and I saw my newly added images showing up again.  Such a huge relief.
Thank you all for the help and suggestions.  I'm in good shape now, and appreciate this amazing program and its developers.  Will make a contribution shortly.

Very best, and happy New Year!

That's not a problem is Linux, just create a symlink from the new
path to the old path and the OS will deal with it.

That's what I did for my external driveS (I have drive-a, drive-b,
and drive-c):

sudo ln -s /media/froggy/drive-b/  /run/media/froggy/drive-b/

then you can check it with:

readlink /run/media/froggy/drive-b/
        /media/froggy/drive-b/
