Hi

First post here. I’m no whiz developer, just a semi-competent user with a 400k image database I’ve been happily using for work for several months..

Since a forced OS update that was the only cure for a rash of kernel panic general crashes, DigiKam hangs on launch every time.
The app launches, the menu bar displays the name DigiKam, but that’s as far as it goes.
Force quit is the only way out. The crash report calls it a hang..
Previous to the OS update the app ran fine, but the database would get corrupted every time there was a kernel panic and the app was running.

I’m hoping I can start over from zero with DigiKam. Uninstall and start fresh is my goal at this point.
I have re-downloaded v7.6, and tried also 7.5 and 7.7 - I am still seeing the same behavior, I cannot get the app to run.

I am not seeing the “digikamrc” document in User/Library/Preferences any longer, but I do have a backup of that file that I moved and renamed early on in this saga. Is this relevant?

I am beyond my limited knowledge, and running out of ideas.

I would appreciate any wisdom on how to uninstall/re-install completely, or what file might be missing or corrupted..
Maybe a MacBook Air M1 with 12.3.1 is just not going to work with the current DK?

Thanks in advance. I looked through the archive at https://forum.kde.org/ <https://forum.kde.org/> and I apologize if I am asking stupid questions, in breach of protocol, or am otherwise irritating.

Respectfully,

Peter O
