[digiKam-users] Tags not saved to HEIC Files

Thanks for your responses everybody.

I tried updating the Title and Rating using the command line and it works fine.

C:\Program Files\digiKam>exiftool -title=TitleTest2 c:\temp\test\IMG_8385.HEIC
    1 image files updated
C:\Program Files\digiKam>exiftool -title c:\temp\test\IMG_8385.HEIC
Title : TitleTest2

C:\Program Files\digiKam>exiftool -rating=4 c:\temp\test\IMG_8385.HEIC
    1 image files updated
C:\Program Files\digiKam>exiftool -rating c:\temp\test\IMG_8385.HEIC
Rating : 4

I can see these tags show up in digicam as well. So ExifTool is able to update the HEIC files.

Then I ran a DebugTrace and updated the tags through digicam. This is what I got.

Only reading the metadata is supported in exiv2-0.27.4 with BMFF, not writing.

Hi,

Unfortunately, that doesn't work that way. Maybe, it is possible to use an import script for the MYSQL Database?

Hello,

I haven't tried it myself, and I'm not even sure whether it would work, but here's an idea. In the application you are currently using, assign all the tags you want to import to a single photo. Add photo to digiKam, and choose Item -> Reread Metadata From File. In theory this should add all tags in the photo to the digiKam database.

Kind regards,
Dmitri

In Fedora at least, the exiv2 BMFF support is not enabled, this is currently being looked at from a legal point of view I understand. Not sure if other distros are being as conservative.

Hi all,

Am I doing something wrong? I have been asking this question for months now with no response. I’ve asked in tech forums and Reddit groups supposedly dedicated to Digikam. No responses.
If my question is too stoopid, please tell me I am a moron but please tell me why. I simply can’t find the answer to this anywhere.

Subject: [digiKam-users] Need help connecting to an existing SQL DB

Hi Friends,

I have an Unraid server with the Digikam docker installation set to use a MySQL server. Everything is working great and I love the product.
Now, however, I would like to install the Windows version of Digikam on my laptop due to functionality issues in the Guacamole client.
When I go through the install, I am asked for the database connection info (which connects fine) but, when it completes the install, it creates a new set of empty tables and dumps my current database.
I do not want to run the Digikam server from my laptop because I have a cron job running to detect faces as pictures are uploaded to my personal cloud and the Unraid server is always running.

I am looking for the documentation to install Digikam on my Windows 10 laptop to use the existing MySQL database on my Unraid server.
