Thank you, Malik, for the quick answers re tags. To clarify, the question was regarding the tags displayed beneath the thumbnails. To further illustrate the question, my tags hierarchy is something like:
Place | a_place, d_place, z_place
People | b_person, e_person, etc.
where Place and People are main branches, with their leaves to the right. I only check the leaves in a tags tree for each item (photo or movies). If I checked, for example, all the leaves above for an item, the item’s thumbnail would have
a_place, b_person, d_place, e_person, z_place,
Since the hierarchy is known, a bit better presentation would be
a_place, d_place, z_place; b_person, e_person.
From the answer, if I understood it correctly, the second option is not currently supported. -Boz.

In the thumbsview my selected tags get mixed up so that a Place tag gets somewhere within the People tags. Ideally, I’d like to have all selected tags for Date (movies can have more than one date) be listed before any Place tag(s), which in turn should come before any People tags. Adding number prefixes to lower level branches and leaves to force a particular order is not a practical solution. I have not been able to find a way to accomplish the desired sequencing. Is it possible?

I am not seeing a perceptible difference in this behavior between v7.1 and the 6.x versions. In the last year I have installed a whole bunch of open source and commercial products for viewing, editing and managing movies (including ffmpeg, VirtualDub, VLC, etc.), and they all play all my movies without a problem. So, it seems, QtAv still needs some work. I am hoping for an improvement in that area. Even though the feature may not matter to those that only manage photographs, I can’t imagine that I am the only one who comes back from a vacation with a mix of photos and movies. And using a powerful platform to manage both seamlessly is a big plus, IMHO.
