My problem with this scheme and all the other DK schemes, is that I
do not see where I am. I prefer to use the keyboard to the mouse due
to elbow and shoulder injuries.

I'd like something that separates the colors according to the
current active panel. ie:

* the current tab to be highlighted for either of the left/right tabs
* if the focus is on the tags, then the grey of the middle becomes
  dimmer.
* if the thumbnails is the current focus then the grey around the
  thumbnail becomes brighter and the grey of the side panels becomes
  dimmer.
