How many files are in the collection?
Thousands, in a whole folders tree.
 Did you edit the files in digikam yesterday ?
I haven't had used Digikam for several weeks.
 It might be the good ol' versioning checkbox 
On tons of folders and images? And could it prevent the whole device to appear in the albums list?
