New to Digikam - a few questions

Thank you for the response and the welcome - I've spent a lot of time
scouring these forums for further info. I'm surprise there aren't more posts
about how to take better advantage of DigiKam - eg like top tips for power
users etc..

I was able to get the delete keyboard shortcut to work, albeit NOT the
shortcut I had assigned in the shortcut menu! I have it programmed as
"Delete" however only "FN+Delete" works. Odd..!

Thanks for the background on the trash folder - odd, but I'll get used to
it.

I'm surprised there aren't more plugins - I found a further list of plugins
here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDE_Image_Plugin_Interface

Are there any stats on who uses digiKam? eg number of users, which
platforms, locations, etc...? Just out of curiosity as not many people
default to digiKam, especially after Picasa was removed from service.

Cheers

Hello Mitz,

Welcome to the digikam community.

Re Del key
I am not sure why Del isn't working on your Mac. I have never used a Mac
computer though. It works on Linux and Windows.

Re plugins
If you are looking for plugins please search for kipi-plugins.

Re Google Photos plugin
I think I have tried the plugin once or twice and it crashed on me so I
stopped using it and use web upload instead.
Perhaps Saurabh Patel might help you since he seems to be the one who wrote
the plugin.

Re digiKam trash folder
I don't believe you can change that. I think dev team could not figure out
how to make digiKam work with system trash on Linux, Windows and Mac and
created the internal digiKam trash folder as a workaround to make digiKam a
trully cross-platform application.

Re Album section
I don't think it is possible to flatten the album view. You can make the
font smaller though. Settings - configure digiKam - Views - Tree views

Best regards,
