AppImage has option from CLI :

digiKam AppImage bundle CLI options:
without option     : run digiKam.
<showfoto>         : run Showfoto instead digiKam.
<debug>            : run digiKam into GDB.
<debug> <showfoto> : run Showfoto into GDB.
<help>             : show this help.
