Update images when external file is created

Hi guys,

My workflow includes some editions using external programs (usualy gimp)
while I'm selecting and rating images.

The problem is, when I save a new file from the external editor on the same
folder I'm working, digikam don't recognize this image imediatly (like it
does when I create a new file using showphoto). I need to press F5 to force
digikam to rebuild ALL thumbs and finally be able to tag or do any work
with the new file inside Digikam.

When working on folders with many (2k) imagens, this task takes some
minutes in my machine and is really annoing.

So, there is any faster way to make Digikam recognize new image inside the
folder I'm working? Why is so different create a new file with showfoto and
any other external program?
