So did the trick changing the path in digikamrc config file work ?
Also, for me the letter A: will always be reserved for a floppy drive. Haha, just kidding. Looks like I got old enough to make such jokes.

Thanks. That was my first thought and would have accomplished everything needed as easily as just reassigning the letters.Your solution is the most sensible means of keeping things on track; however, I wanted my main internal working pictures drive to be "A" and the external back-up drive to be "Z"; and, with all of you guys help, now they are.

Why not just shutdown digikam , change P drive letter to something else and then change A drive letter to P drive letter?

Okay, Thanks !I can open and read digikamrc; now I just need to see if I can understand what I am seeing.I won't make any changes until I am certain of the outcome.

Your user probably has no write access to the folder or maybe digikam isn't closed so it blocks access to the file. I am pretty sure the config you are looking for is digikamrc

Thanks. The first of the list = Notepad said it did not exist; however, Wordpad opened it.The rest of the list = I get a pop-up notice saying that the location does not exist, please check my spelling and try again.

Hi,Sorry to be such a dumbie; however, when I navigate to the first of the four paths you listed, I immediately get a pop-up window that asks me which program I want to open the file with; every program I have is listed (and there are many); what kind of files are these and what opens them ? Or, am I doing something wrong ?
Thanks so much.

No, dll files are 'Dynamic Link Libraries' and contain executable code

that is needed to make programs run.

The digikam configuration files are supposed to be

~/Local Settings/digikamrc

~/Local Settings/digikam_tagsmanagerrc

~/Local Settings/kipipluginsrc

~/Local Settings/kipirc

~/Local Settings/showfotorc

~/Local Settings/digikam/*

Where the ~ stands for C:\Users\<username> and you need to use \ instead

of / everywhere in that list.
