[Digikam-users] Digikam-users Digest, Vol 130, Issue 3

I currently prepare a DMG installer for OSX El Capitan with digiKam 5.0.0
beta. It's at 55% done. I start to solve the most difficult problems now,
all relevant of KDE frameworks libraries, even if 80% of KDE dependencies
have been dropped or optional now. The 20% of the rest of KDE is complex to
compile, due to multiple inheritance with others KDE components. To resume,
KDE is the hell on non Linux system : it's not really a pure Qt5 frameworks
dedicated to extent Qt5 API as well. This is why KDE application don't work
or work badly on non Linux/KDE desktop.

My dream, in next years, is to have a pure Qt5 implementation in digiKam
with all KDE dependencies fully optional, as Marble do currently. But it's
will be long to do.

So, please, be patient. I hope to have a 5.0.0-beta DMG installer ready in
few weeks.

best
