Merci again.

Although the link provides no helpful “concise” directions on how to run the tool with the appropriate debug space for simple users such as myself (developers, please take note), I now have my thumbnails back. But, I’ve no idea why.

All I had done differently was activate (double click) the app from within /opt/digikam/Applications/digiKam/ rather than from cmd > Spacebar (Spotlight Search) as usual. When that worked I wanted to create an Alias to put into the Applications directory. Then I discovered that the existing file was already an alias referring to the original in opt/…

Was it merely a coincidence that after at least 6 attempts to flush the databases, it finally “stuck” and the program again operates as designed?

So, my thumbnails are back but I have no useful clues to provide to anybody else who may happen to find themselves in a similar predicament. Sorry :-(
