[Digikam-users] strange behavior re-reading metadata from files...

Hi,

I just posted a bug after talking to Veaceslav but it seems like this is
at a lower layer than Tag Manager.

It seems that on DK 4.0.0 when reading metadata from files it only
takes into account what is on XMP but not in IPTC metadata. This makes
impossible to fill up the database with ALL the tags and then be able to
delete those that are no longer needed from the metadata and DB.

The same way, when writing database tags into files metadata, regardless
I try with the new Tag Manager (sync export), or the instruction located
in Maintenance Tools or menu Image, the result is a perfect mirroring
sync with the database but only on XMP, while for ITCP it only appends
the info to the existing one. I tested this with several boxes, linux
distros etc always with the same result.

Details here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336328

I am moving all my stuff to DK 3.5.0, to clean my IPTC metadata and then
get it back into DK 4.0.0

hope this helps finding the solution.
regards
