[Digikam-users] Export Pictures and Database to a different PC

Hello,

I think DigiKam miss some rules/info regarding the database location and photo 
albums. This have little importance for the usual install, but have a heavy 
one when migrating or copying.

one of the reasons is that it do not sems possible to *exclude* a folder from 
being use by DigiKam.

I mean, if you have folders

medias
   photo1
   photo2
   video
   Audio

and if you choose "media" as collection location, it's not possible to say 
"video" and "audio" do not have to be indexed by digiKam. It may be solved by 
links, but links are always confusing, specially when a copy is planned.

si one have to keep all the digiKam photos and these only in a sub tree, say:

digiKam
   photo1
   photo2

in this situation, the (sqlite) database can be located in the digiKam folder 
and archived pretty easily

an other way could be to allow one database per collection
