Hmm, looks like a false alarm.
If you update a core lib like Qt it seems better to restart at least your 
session or maybe the whole computer. It seems that some components of the 
running KDE did not like the in-session Qt update. After restart Digikam and 
KDE works stable. Now I can start exploring 2.9 :-)
