Until the above bug is fixed or workaround is applied, you're going to need to 
use digikam from 2.3 or earlier on OS X.

i think, git checkout a5faa1fb should get you to the 2.3.0 release, but my 
git-kung-fu is pretty bad.

with regards to your crash i can try to compile it when i get home to see if i 
can reproduce it. I haven't been running recent versions due to the bug above. 
And since my git-kung-fu is bad, i find it hard to swap between versions of 
digikam.
