AFAIK DNG is 'free', not 'open source'. 'open raw' is open source but not
widely used and widely accepted by camera manufacturers.

As already mentioned in earlier post, if your raw format .CR2, .NEF etc. is
supported by open source, then there is no need of DNG because of it's
disadvantages and draw backs.
