[Digikam-users] Import speed, is it really that slow?

thanks for your reply, I appreciate that very much.
I  don´t  think  it  makes  sense that you make a test with the import
picture  functionality.  Further  testing yesterday and today revealed
that  I  have  these  freezes all the time in Digicam and its included
tools  (Lighttable  and  Picture  Editor). The whole Suite freezes for
10-15  seconds,  sometimes  several times in a minute (which makes you
more  waiting  than  working)  and  sometimes  you  can work for a few
minutes and then *boom* freeze again.

I  did further testing on a XP SP3 x86 and my Windows 7 x64 System. On
both  I  tried the digiKam 2.2.0, 2.3.0 and 2.5.0 packages. I used the
internal  SQLite  Database  and  a  MySQL Database stored on my NAS. I
worked with pictures from an USB stick, my local drive and on my NAS.

The  freezes  are  independent  from  the  setups / variants mentioned
above. Since while the App is frozen I can see no CPU and HDD activity
I  don´t  know  how  to "debug" this. I can´t be the only Windows User
here and I wonder what setup others use and how it works for them.
