Gilles; thanks for the quick response ... I guess you are referring to
the red line on the histogram that moves with the triangle selector.
If that line simply moved according to the cursor position on the image
that would be great. The line does not need to be 'clamped' in place at
any time (if that makes it easier).

I will enter a Bugzilla bug/wish to put it on your TODO list.
