[Digikam-users] Photos don't appear.

Hi All,

a couple of months ago I had the wrong version of lib kipi installed - so when
I clicked on a folder in my DidiKam albums I saw no photos. Getting the
openSUSE standard version fixed that.

Now it has happened again - although I didn't change libkipi versions (perhaps
an update caused the problem).

I have tried:

digikam-1.5.0-5.1.x86_64 from KDE:UpdatedApps / openSUSE_11.2
libkipi7-4.4.4-500.1.x86_64 from KDE:UpdatedApps / openSUSE_11.2
kipi-plugins-1.3.0-75.1.x86_64 from KDE:UpdatedApps / openSUSE_11.2
libexif-0.6.17-5.2.x86_64 from openSUSE 11.2

If I try removing the digikam db I get messages such as (don't know if any of
these are relevant):

...
digikam(32594)/KIPI (loading) KIPI::PluginLoader::instance:
KIPI::PluginLoader::instance is null...
...
digikam(32594)/digikam (core): Failed to detect a storage volume for path
"/home/Extra/pics/2010/Australia/Hugo/"  with Solid
...
Warning: Directory Image, entry 0x0001 has unknown Exif (TIFF) type 0; setting
type size 1.
...
digikam(32594)/digikam (core)
Digikam::ScanControllerLoadingCacheFileWatch::slotImageChanged: 28
"/home/Extra/pics/2010/Australia/Hugo/03/img-024567.jpg"
...

klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_digikamdates'."
digikam(32594)/digikam (core) Digikam::AlbumManager::slotDatesJobResult:

klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_digikamalbums'.
...
digikam(32594)/digikam (core) Digikam::DigikamApp::slotKipiPluginPlug: Plugin
' "batch_color_images" ' disabled.

There are a few updated versions of these packages available - so then I
updated to:

digikam-1.5.0-39.5.x86_64 from KDE:Release:45 / openSUSE_11.2
kipi-plugins-1.5.0-9.4.x86_64 from KDE:Release:45 / openSUSE_11.2
libkipi7-4.5.4-2.5.x86_64 from KDE:Release:45 / openSUSE_11.2
libexif-0.6.17-5.2.x86_64 from openSUSE 11.2

With these the messages I got were:
digikam(7250)/digikam (core): Failed to detect a storage volume for path
"/home/Extra/pics/2010/Australia/Hugo/"  with Solid
...
Warning: Directory Image, entry 0x0001 has unknown Exif (TIFF) type 0; setting
type size 1.
[ repeated many times ]
...
digikam(7250): couldn't create slave: "Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_digikamdates'.
"
digikam(7250)/digikam (core) Digikam::AlbumManager::slotDatesJobResult: Failed
to list dates
digikam(7250): couldn't create slave: "Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_digikamalbums'.
"

There were about 1/10th the messages for this second set of apps compared to
the first.

What am I missing? Or what versions of something do I have that are
incompatible?

By the way, for both versions, when you exit digikam, the process remains. Is
that meant to happen? Between these tests I killed the digikam process and
deleted both digikam4.db and thumbnails-digikam.db

Cheers,

David.
