In digikam tags are structured in a tree. That means you can have a tag 
hierarchy like

tagRoot
|-r
| |-a
| |-b
|-x
   |-c
   |-d

a, b, c and d are leaves of the tag tree because they haven't got any 
children. r and x have childrean and thus are nor leaf-tags.
