[Digikam-users] Build error on digikam-1.0.0-beta1

I'm currently having a problem building the digikam-1.0.0-beta1 source. 
It got to 29% into the build process, and I get this error:
[ 29%] Building CXX object 
digikam/CMakeFiles/digikamcore.dir/digikamconfig.o                                                             

make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/lib/libz.so', needed by 
`lib/libdigikamcore.so.1.0.0'.  Stop.                                  
make[1]: *** [digikam/CMakeFiles/digikamcore.dir/all] Error

I have the latest zlib installed, and digikam only me just a "you are 
using the obsolete 'PKGCONFIG' macro use FindPkgConfig" warning when I 
ran cmake. I have tried searching on google, and searched the mailing 
list and it looks like no one else is having this error. Any help would 
be appreciated.
