[Digikam-users] digikam3.db and EXIF/IPTC

I have a large (too large) collection of images all sitting under a single db
file
I find this a bit scary!

I would like the flexibility to split data or merge photo sections at some
future date.

How can I ensure that Tags, Stars, Captions et all are written to the file
headers
EXIF or IPTC ... and if that were done would DK be able to recreate the db
file correctly?

Or, what do others do in similar situations?
