If you use digiKam and kipi-plugins for KDE3, Raw converter plugin support
only 8 bits color depth, else digiKam image editor 16 bits color depth

but 50 Mb is very large. which RAW camera formt you convert ? Can you send
me a raw file sample to test here (by private mail)
