No. Libtiff do not support Exif/Makernotes !!! This is why Exif are never
transfered in tiff file...

For PNG, i never seen this problem. I use PNG to host all my RAW files
modifications and transfer at end to JPEG for publishing. I never lost Exif
in JPEG
