[Digikam-users] digikam image plugins

Hi, I am running version 0.9.2 on my kubuntu system.
When I tried to use the image plugins like giving a picture a texture 
like a brick wall, or painting, the target picture turns all black.
How come? And when i try to install the image plaugins from my depo 
through adept manager, it tells me the it will break the install?
So what's up here?
Am I missing something?
