What kernel are you using?

The reason I ask is that I have a pure NFS network boot system we use 
for our PBX machine in the office and I had serious problems relating to 
DB locking when using DB4 files (the RPM database in that case).

Upgrading to a newer kernel solved the problems for me and allowed me to 
lock the files properly.

So perhaps if you try the latest kernel the locking wont be a problem 
for you?
